Building #1

Although not the most esthetically pleasing building I have ever seen, this is one of the two winners for my architecture assignment. Its location allows easy access and it is not a heavily trafficked area which should allow me to shoot uninterrupted.
I processed a second set of negatives today and had nice results, thus giving me a greater confidence with that task.

Architecture Weekend

I am gearing up to shoot my architecture assignment this weekend. This building is one possibility, but the more I look at it the more uncertain of it I am. I did process the film from Shoot #1 yesterday, and it appears that I got what I was looking for.

The Blimp

While shooting our assignment, the Goodyear blimp made a few passes overhead. The shoot went very smooth and I will be processing the film tomorrow so that I can check out the results.

These are a couple of campus locations that may be used for the first assignment that we will be shooting tomorrow.

This was quite a sight. Never in my life have I seen so many yellow cabs (and cab drivers) in one place. This parking lot was full of them (maybe 50 cabs). I just thought it made for an interesting interpretation of "repetition of shape".

4x5 Fun

Today I went out into the field to orientate myself with the 4x5 camera. The "love affair" has begun. It is an amazing camera with some elements that take some getting used to. Viewing the image upside down for one. This definitely forces you to take your time and really double check to make sure you are capturing what you want to capture. The sheer size of the camera is another "new" to me. Luckily, this trip into the field came with a nearby parking ramp. All in all, my first experience went well and I look forward to continuing this relationship.

Engagement Shoot

I was recently hired to take some engagement photos for the young couple featured here. They had only one real request, and that was that we shoot at the beach. It was one of my first shoots in which I was giving direction to people and not just moving inanimate objects around at my discretion. We quickly reached a comfort level with each other that allowed their personalities to come out, and me to capture some of the ideas and visions I had for this shoot. In the end it was highly satisfying knowing that the client was extremely pleased with the results.

Repetition of Shape

While contemplating ideas for a calendar project, I realized that I love the repetition of shape, whether it be architectural in nature or simply footprints in the sand. A trip to the supermarket revealed an entire world of repetition. One soda display, a clever repetition, caught my eye.
